Adult Fitness: Shae Kelly’s 60 day Insanity Transformation!

Shae Kelly brought it for 60 days and had an amazing transformation! She pushed play everyday and didn’t make excuses. With the help of my Challenge Group, Shae was given the motivation and accountability she needed to reach her goals. I am a very proud coach, Congratulations Shae!
Here is her story!
“I was always labeled the active kid growing up. We lived on a farm and practically every daylight hour that I wasn’t doing school I was out riding horses, chasing cows, and mucking stalls. In between farm life I also played sports. But being active made for a robust appetite and unfortunately that is where things went downhill. I hated anything healthy, especially vegetables, and junk food was always around the house. I stayed hydrated with soft drinks and sugary coffees. By the time I was ten years old I weighed over 150 pounds and hated it. My teen years were spent going on diet after diet, but within several weeks I felt so deprived and would crash and eat every piece of junk food in the house. It was a vicious cycle that always caused me to gain back whatever I had lost, plus some.
I blamed my weight on genetics and told myself I would never be one of those fit and healthy girls. Then last year I realized that was the security excuse I have hid behind all these years. It was holding me back from becoming the person I’d always dreamed of being. I weighed right at 175 pounds. I cringed going out with my girlfriends and always came up with excuses to stay at home in my baggy yoga pants and tshirts where no one could see me. Then this past fall of 2012 it hit me that unless something changed I was going to continue to put on weight. I had this mental picture of me being over 200 pounds before I was thirty years old and it scared me to death. I resolved right then and there that I would do everything I could to have a ripped and fit body by summer of 2013.
My greatest challenge was changing my eating habits. Although in my teen years I had come to love vegetables and eating healthy, I still overloaded on the desserts and empty calories so it sabotaged everything. I would work out five to six days a week, but then ruin every ounce of effort in the kitchen. One of the biggest lessons I have learned these past couple months is how true it really is that success is 80% made in the kitchen! When I started the program I began to follow the INSANITY nutrition guide and even on days I didn’t stick with the exact recipes I still made sure it fell under the proper breakdown of carbs/protein/fats. I gave up soft drinks completely and learned to like coffee with no sugar and just a splash of milk. I track my daily calories and drink water throughout the day to stay properly hydrated.
By the end of November I had lost twelve pounds but was looking for a way to step up my game. I researched online and read many reviews on people who have used INSANITY and had amazing results. I love pushing myself to the limit and it sounded like INSANITY would challenge me while also keeping me excited to face the workouts each day and not get bored.
I started the program in December and very quickly fell in love with it! I love Shaun T’s personality!!!! He is so enthusiastic in each of the DVD’s and it motivated me to keep pushing myself. There was enough variety in each workout that you never got tired of the same old thing and I never could believe how fast the time flew! For this sports loving girl INSANITY was right up my alley and pushed and challenged me unlike any other workout program I’ve used.
My favorite achievement from using INSANITY for 60 days?! I lost thirty pounds!!! I couldn’t believe it! I had decided at the beginning that I would wait on weighing myself until the end so it didn’t distract my focus. I had read reviews of others not loosing much until that last month, so I didn’t want to get discouraged early on and give up. Throughout the 60 days I could tell my body shape was changing and I loved how toned my muscles were becoming. But to lose 30 pounds?! I couldn’t be happier! Plus, I am just proud of myself for finally breaking through the mental block that I was a failure at losing weight. Not only did I surpass my goals but I am actually the lightest I have been in years!!
I have confidence and love my body now! No longer do I want to hide behind baggy clothes, but I love getting out and not feeling intimated and embarrassed by my looks. I feel like by completing INSANITY, it has given me the foundational tools to continue my journey of a lifetime of being fit and healthy. My diet didn’t “end” because this time around it was a lifestyle change. I don’t fear gaining it back because I am continuing forward as a whole new person! I am excited to start my next Beachbody program and keep the results coming. Bring on summer of 2013 because I am ready for it!
Honestly, I could not have done it without my coach and the support of our Challenge Group! Coach Chris was always ready to answer questions and give advice, and then knowing my whole team was watching to see if I reported my workout for the day kept me on track. The accountability was amazing motivation for me!
From the very start, my Coach Chris let me know he was there and ready to take this journey with me. He kept the Challenge Group together by inspiring us every single day to keep pushing ourselves and sharing a wealth of information on fitness through his own experiences. I was always impressed with how quickly he would answer my questions whenever I messaged him and it showed me he really cared about us and wanted to help in any way he could.
